Anomalous, hysteretic, transverse magnetoresistance in superconducting thin films with magnetic vortex arrays

چکیده
We have studied a superconducting/ferromagnetic hybrid system in which the normal to superconducting phase transition is controlled by the magnetic history. An anomalous transverse resistance appears at the phase transition, which shows magnetic hysteresis and a strong current dependence. We show that the anomaly originates from current redistributions due to the inhomogeneous superconductivity of this system. © 2009 American Institute of Physics. DOI: 10.1063/1.3159466

Single phase polycrystalline Gd1-xPrxBa2Cu3O7-δ samples with x=0.05 , 0.10, and 0.15 have been prepared by standard solid state reaction technique and characterized by XRD and SEM analysis. The electrical resistivity, Hall effect and magnetoresistance measurements have been on the samples. The electrical resistivity measurements indicate a reduction of transition temperature (Tc) and an incre...
متن کاملCorrelation length of quasiperiodic vortex lattices.
We investigated vortex-lattice dynamics in superconducting Nb thin films with different quasiperiodic arrays of magnetic pinning centers. The mixed-state magnetoresistance exhibits minima for well-defined applied fields, related to matching effects between the vortex lattice and those arrays. The results show that critical matching can originate at a local scale. For fractal arrays, the vortex-...
متن کاملBistability in a superconducting Al thin film induced by arrays of Fe-nanodot magnetic vortices.
A hybrid system, consisting of an array of Fe nanodots covered by a superconducting Al thin film, exhibits very unusual magnetotransport, including a giant hysteretic magnetoresistance with different reversible or irreversible regimes related to the magnetic state of the array. These effects originate from the magnetic fields produced by magnetic nanodots in the "magnetic vortex state." This is...
متن کاملMagnetic-field-induced anomalous microwave response in superconducting YBa2Cu3O7Àd thin films
The magnetic-field-induced decrease of microwave surface impedance, Zs5Rs1 jXs , of superconducting YBa2Cu3O72d thin films is investigated using a microstrip resonator technique. Through measuring Zs as the direct current ~dc! magnetic field is increased from zero to a certain value Hmax and subsequently decreased back to zero, it is found that Zs(Hdc) is totally reversible if Hmax does not exc...
متن کاملHysteresis and Fractional Matching in Thin Nb Films with Rectangular Arrays of Nanoscaled Magnetic Dots
We have investigated the periodic pinning of magnetic flux quanta in thin Nb films with rectangular arrays of magnetic dots. In this type of pinning geometry, a change in the periodicity and shape of the minima in the magnetoresistance occurs for magnetic fields exceeding a certain threshold value. This has been explained recently in terms of a reconfiguration transition of the vortex lattice d...
